Home Inspection Basics ...

When To Get A Home Inspection

Whether you’re buying a house, selling a house, or simply have not had your home inspected in years, you can benefit from a professional home inspection.

Purchasing

Anytime you purchase a house, even if its newly constructed, you should get a home inspection.  A professional home inspection by a NAHIPA Member will provide you with the information you need to make confident decisions regarding your purchase as well as providing you with valuable information on care and upkeep.

Don’t assume that just because the house is newly built that there aren’t any problems.  Building a new house is a complex process and even the best and most reputable builders occasionally overlook something.  It’s always best to have those problems taken care of before you close the deal and move in.

Prior to Listing the Home for Sale

Sellers can benefit from having a pre-listing inspection.  This inspection will allow you to eliminate last minute repairs that can slow down the selling process.  In addition, the resulting report may show you ways to increase your property’s value or greatly improve its marketability.

Long Time Residents

It’s hard to be an expert on all facets of your house.  Even the most dedicated do-it-yourselfer is bound to fall behind or just miss something.  Having a home inspection will allow problems to be identified before they get worse and possibly cost you thousands to repair.
